A great read. Had to keep turning the page to find out what happens next.
It's the debut novel but you wouldn't think so.
I sure hope S.M. writes more.

A fun read. All the fascinating twists and turns in the story made it difficult to put the story down. I'm hoping for a sequel from SM Johnson.

It started out slow and complicated but the result was fantastic. I cannot wait for another book from S.M. Johnson
Many "best seller" thrillers do not stimulate intellectual curiosity, expand ones horizons, or foster discussion amongst ones family or friends. NOT the case with Reaching Rose. In the vain of previous books that try to hit the intellectual thriller mark (e.g. The Davinici Code) SM Johnson provides a great and engaging read while at the same time fostering intellectual curiosity. This would make a fantastic "book club book" or at a minimum is a good read between family and friends to openly discuss. I eagerly await the next novel by SM Johnson.
A very smart novel. Touches on many topics -- biology, physics, psychology -- but rather than intruding on the story with erudition, it just makes the characters more real. This genre, whatever it is, is not my normal thing.
The main character, Nicole, is a philosophical materialist -- a scientist. Johnson does not portray her as a stereotype. She encounters evidence that contradicts her scientific paradigm, and her intellectual struggle is very real and very personal.
